  • What's hypnotherapy used for?

    Hypnotherapy is a complementary therapy that can help manage a wide range of conditions, including:

  • How effective is hypnotherapy?

    While some may wonder if hypnotherapy is a “woo woo” practice, it actually has a long history and has been extensively researched. In 1958, both the American Medical Association and the American Psychological Association recognized hypnotherapy as a valid practice. Moreover, since 1995, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has recommended hypnotherapy as a treatment for chronic pain.

    However, as with any medicine or healing modality, our responses to each one vary from person to person.

  • How do I know if my hypnotherapist is qualified?

    As with all healing or therapeutic work, it’s important to make sure that the person you are working with has the proper training. I am certified through Haven Ridge School of Hypnotherapy, located in British Columbia, Canada.

    But hypnotherapy is also about personal dynamics and finding a good fit, which you can get a better sense of during a consultation call.

  • Can a hypnotist make me do something I don't want to do?

    No. In a hypnotic state, you remain in full control of your body and mind. In fact, you will snap out of hypnosis if anything is said by the hypnotist that goes against your own belief system.

    While we may have seen stage shows or scenes from TV and film, these performances are just that… performances.

  • Can anyone be hypnotized?

    Short answer: Yes.

    Long answer: No one can be hypnotized against their will. Hypnosis is a state of focused concentration, guided by a trained hypnotherapist. So long as a client is a willing participant in this process, then they can enter that state.

  • What if I can't come into your office? Is hypnotherapy equally effective in a Zoom or FaceTime session?

    Yes. If you can find yourself a quiet, comfortable space, then there is no reason for it not be equally effective as an in-person session.

  • How many sessions will it take for the hypnotherapy to work?

    Some people see results right away, while others may take several sessions and the additional use of audio recordings for a period of days for changes to take hold. Many clients notice changes between 3-8 sessions, but we can discuss your specific needs and expectations during our consultation.

  • How much do your sessions cost?

    My rate is currently $200.00 per session, with each session lasting approximately one hour.

  • What should hypnotherapy NOT be used for?

    While hypnotherapy is a powerful tool for many issues, it’s not suitable for everything. It is not used to diagnose or treat serious mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or personality disorders. It’s also not appropriate for crisis situations, active substance addiction, or cases requiring immediate psychiatric intervention.

    Hypnotherapy works best as a complementary healing modality but is not intended to replace medical or psychological care when those are needed.
